Nekojima Game

In Nekojima, “The Island of Cats” in Japan, an electricity network is developing to supply the various lively districts of the island. The installation of electric poles becomes increasingly complex due to the narrowness of the territory and the curious population of cats strolling on the cables. This creates a unique challenge for players as they navigate the intricacies of the island's infrastructure.

Nekojima is a wooden game of skill and dexterity where players must keep an entire installation in balance. Each turn, players place or stack denchuu — 電柱, or electrical poles — ensuring that no hanging cables touch. The game demands reflection, concentration, and skill, as players must strategically position their pieces to maintain the structure's stability.

In competitive play, the player who causes the structure to collapse loses the game. In cooperative mode, the objective is to build the structure as high as possible without it toppling.
