You’ll start your adventure in historic Maldon, heading out on foot along the Blackwater Estuary to the tidal causeway that leads to remote Northey Island. At low tide you cross this ancient path and begin a circular walk across the island’s wild, open terrain, soaking up dramatic coastal views and learning about the Battle of Maldon and its Viking and Anglo-Saxon history. You’ll explore possible battlefield sites and hear stories of the Viking era as you trek through this peaceful, nature-rich landscape. After returning across the causeway, you finish with a delightful afternoon tea for two, complete with tasty treats and a glass of fizz each.

Adults only tour, no dogs - must be walking fit. Not suitable for wheelchair uses or people with healthcare issues. Walking terrain, 6 miles of moderate walking, uneven.
No toilet facilities. Toilets are only accessible at the meeting point.
