The Mandalorian Season 3 Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot And More

Warning: This article contains The Mandalorian Season 2 spoilers

The Mandalorian TV series is set five years after Return of the Jedi, the third instalment in the Star Wars film franchise.

It tells the story of The Mandalorian, also known as Din Djarin, a bounty hunter turned super-softy. Initially hired to track down the Force-sensitive Grogu and bring him back to the client, he decided instead to protect him. Played by Pedro Pascal (the guy who’s in literally everything right now), the end of season 2 saw The Mandalorian say goodbye to Grogu… for now.

The series was created by Jon Favreau, of Deep Impact, Iron Man and Friends fame. The seasoned actor and director is one of The Mandalorian’s executive producers and directors. Its first season premiered in 2019 on Disney+, and that’s where season 3 continues.

And if you’re already wondering how you’ll fill the Mandalorian-shaped hole in your life when the season finishes, rumour has it that the 4th season has already been written.

In this short guide we’ll take a look at:

The Mandalorian Season 3 Cast

Here are the stars of The Mandalorian Season 3, along with the characters they play.

As you’d expect, the list of supporting actors is way too long to include, unless you have 5 or 6 hours to spare. But here are the main actors and actresses who star in the hit series.

  • Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian/Din Djarin

Pedro Pascal, of Game of Thrones and The Last of Us fame, plays the title character in The Mandalorian. We don’t know where he finds the time either.

Also known as Din Djarin, or, as his best mates call him, Mando, his training made him a force to be reckoned with. But he retains a soft side, especially when it comes to Grogu.

  • Grogu

Despite being 50 years old, ‘baby’ Grogu can’t speak. This is handy for filmmakers, saving them the hassle of paying for a voice actor. Instead, Grogu makes baby-like noises. Presumably, they’re produced by the sound team. Imagine doing that for a job.

  • Carl Weathers as Greef Karga

Greef Karga is played by Carl Weathers. Although the character once betrayed Mando, he joined Mando and the team in their quest to protect Grogu after Grogu saved his life. We’ll have to tune in to season 3 to find out if he remains on the good side.

  • Emily Swallow as The Armorer

Emily Swallow plays The Armorer in The Mandalorian. She leads a Mandalorian warrior tribe. The mysterious leader is calm and intelligent, and ruthless to say the least.

  • Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing

Dr. Pershing is played by Omid Abtahi. Whilst sitting in the ‘bad guy’ camp initially, the end of season 2 saw him help Grogu. No-one can resist that adorable face.

  • Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon

Moff Gideon is played by Giancarlo Esposito. It’s safe to say that Gideon is a bad guy, having tried to capture Grogu. A ruthless and dangerous character, he warns both enemies and allies that he can’t be trusted.

  • Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze

Katee Sackhoff plays Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian series. No stranger to sci-fi, she starred in Battlestar Galactica and voiced Bo-Katan in the animated series, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’.

She comes to Mando’s aid more than once. But when she asks him to join her and her allies, he refuses. Honestly, you just can’t please some people.

Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett

Crime lord and bounty hunter Boba Fett is played by Temuera Morrison. Boba is a clone of Jango Fett (first seen in 2002’s Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones), and, technically, Jango’s son.

It’s much easier if you don’t question it.

  • Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto

Amy Sedaris plays Peli Motto, who’s a dab hand at repairing ships. Got an issue with your Naboo N-1 Starfighter? She’s your woman.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Plot

We got the first glimpse into season 3’s plot when the trailer dropped back in January. It gives an exciting peek into upcoming episodes. Here’s what you can expect.

The trailer sees The Mandalorian back on his home planet, Mandalore. After removing his helmet - and breaking Mandalorian code - he’s searching for forgiveness.

We caught a glimpse of Mando cruising in the Naboo N-1 starfighter, as well as some characters from previous seasons, including Greef Karga, Peli Motto and the tiny droidsmith Babu Frik.

We also saw Grogu with Mando. This sent the internet into a meltdown, considering the pair said goodbye at the end of season 2.

All in all, season 3 is set to feature the kind of epic battles, stunning scenes and edge-of-your-seat moments we’ve come to expect from the Golden-Globe-winning series.
