Lego Technic is one of Lego’s most premier and popular ranges and is great to buy for yourself or to give as a gift. We would recommend considering Lego Technic as a present if your recipient is interested in cars or engineering, but from what we have found most people find the sets fun to create and operate. From our experience, the most popular Lego technic sets are the Lego F1 which includes:
We also see a lot of demand for Lego NASA, which is a great gift for anyone who loves space and also Lego Yamaha, for fans of motorbikes.
Lego Technic is a range of toy vehicle sets that can be put together from scratch, including gearboxes, wheels and axles. Lego Technic launched in 1977 and includes Lego cars, Lego planes, Lego motorbikes and Lego construction vehicles like cranes. These sets that are aged from 6+ onwards, help teach children engineering skills and also make great gifts for fans of cars (or just fans of Lego!)
Lego’s official guidance on how to clean and maintain your set, is to hand wash only using a soft cloth or sponge and at temperatures no higher than 104°F/40°C. If your water is a higher temperature, it can affect the quality of the Lego. You are also welcome to add a mild detergent too.
Some Lego Technic sets are remote control compatible and can be motorised, you will need to check each vehicle’s description to see if it can be. Lego have also developed a free app called CONTROL + which enables movement and sound on your finished vehicle.
Some LEGO Technic sets come with extra pieces. These either function as back ups in case you lose some of the bricks, or to enable you to create alternate designs, which are available online.
Lego Technic sets come with instructions to follow and each set has its own age rating, starting at 6+. So, as long as your child is over that age rating, they should have no issues. However, there are some Lego Technics for adults, which are not suitable for children and are 18+ only.
Some Lego Technic sets come with a remote control and are powered by the CONTROL + app. Please check the description of each product.
